**1 Kings 6:3** โ *"The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple extended twenty cubits across the width of the temple and projected ten cubits outward."*
Before you entered Solomon's Temple, you passed through something first.
The portico was not decorative. It was intentional โ a threshold space, a pause built into stone and cedar, where the ordinary world gave way to the holy. Ten cubits of projection outward, as if the temple itself was reaching toward the people before they reached toward God.
This is the architecture of grace.
God has always designed approaches โ thresholds, altars, covenants โ not to keep us at distance, but to prepare us for what lies within. The outer space is not lesser space. It is where preparation meets invitation.
Walk slowly toward what is holy. The portico reminds us that God, in His wisdom, builds the welcome before He opens the door.
Let us reflect on the thresholds He has placed in our own sojourn with Him.
