**2 Chronicles 1:12** โ€” *"therefore wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will also give you riches and wealth and honor unlike anything given to the kings before you or after you."*

Solomon asked for wisdom to shepherd a people too great to number. God gave him that โ€” and then added everything Solomon hadn't asked for.

This is the covenant logic of God: seek what is eternal, and the temporal follows in its proper order. Solomon didn't negotiate for wealth. He yearned for discernment. And the Lord, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, responded with abundance precisely because Solomon's heart was rightly ordered.

The steward who pursues wisdom first is not being naive about material need โ€” he is being strategic about source. Riches sought apart from wisdom tend to consume the one who holds them.

Walk with the desire Solomon carried into that night at Gibeon, and consider what the Lord may be waiting to add.
