**Joshua 8:26** โ€” *"Joshua did not draw back the hand that held his battle lance until he had devoted to destruction all who lived in Ai."*

There is something striking about a man who raises his hand in covenant obedience and does not lower it until the work is complete.

This is not cruelty โ€” it is consecration. Joshua's extended lance mirrors Moses at Rephidim, arms held high until victory was secured. Both men understood that partial obedience is its own form of disobedience.

The Hebrew concept of *cherem* โ€” total devotion โ€” was not about destruction for its own sake. It was about undivided surrender to what God had commanded. Nothing held back. No halfway consecration.

Scripture reminds us that God does not call us to begin well and then quietly lower the lance when the cost becomes inconvenient.

Consider the places in your own walk where the hand has grown weary โ€” and what it would mean to hold steady until the work is finished.
