**Acts 20:29** โ *"I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock."*
Paul spoke these words to the Ephesian elders at Miletus โ men he had discipled for three years, with tears. He wasn't warning strangers. He was warning shepherds.
The wolves he described weren't pagans at the gate. They were coming *in among* the flock โ wearing familiarity, speaking the language of the house.
This is why Jude urges us to "contend earnestly for the faith" (Jude 1:3), and why Paul elsewhere charges Timothy to guard the deposit entrusted to him (2 Timothy 1:14). Discernment is not suspicion โ it is stewardship.
The beloved flock deserves shepherds who abide in the Word closely enough to recognize when a voice, however smooth, carries a different spirit.
Let us reflect on who shapes our understanding of God โ and whether their roots run deep into Scripture.
