**Isaiah 41:23** โ *"Tell us the things that are to come, so that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do something good or evil, that we may look on together in dismay."*
God is pressing false gods to a specific test here โ not a philosophical debate, but a courtroom challenge: *Prove your divinity by speaking what has not yet happened.*
They cannot. Silence answers for them.
This is not a minor rhetorical flourish. It is the covenant God distinguishing Himself from every carved image and cultural idol by the sheer weight of His foreknowledge. He alone holds tomorrow. He alone spoke creation into being and names the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).
When anxiety rises over what lies ahead, beloved, consider where your eyes are fixed โ on the silent idols of certainty, control, and comfort, or on the One whose Word has never returned void (Isaiah 55:11).
The God who answered that courtroom challenge still speaks.
