**Daniel 11:33** — *"Those with insight will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by sword or flame, or be captured or plundered."*
This verse was written about the Maccabean period — faithful teachers who kept covenant wisdom alive even as Antiochus IV dismantled the temple and silenced the Torah. They did not stop instructing. They absorbed the cost.
There is something deeply pastoral here for those who steward truth today. Insight is not rewarded with ease. It is rewarded with *responsibility* — and sometimes, with suffering for carrying that responsibility faithfully.
Paul understood this. In 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 he testified: *"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair."*
The calling to instruct many does not come with a promise of comfort. It comes with a promise of *purpose*.
Walk with that truth today — and consider what it costs the faithful to keep the light burning.
