**2 Samuel 13:23** โ€” *"Two years later, when Absalom's sheepshearers were at Baal-hazor near Ephraim, he invited all the sons of the king."*

Two years. Absalom waited two years before moving against Amnon. This was not impulsive rage โ€” it was cultivated bitterness, dressed in the ordinary clothing of a sheepshearing feast.

What makes this verse so sobering is the hospitality. An invitation. A celebration. And beneath it, a wound that had been tended in silence until it became a weapon.

Proverbs 26:24 warns us: *"Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit."*

Unforgiveness rarely announces itself. It waits. It plans. It wears a festive robe.

Hebrews 12:15 calls us to guard against *"any bitter root"* that grows up to defile many โ€” and in Absalom's story, many were indeed defiled.

Let us reflect on what we may be hosting quietly within โ€” and bring it, honestly, before the Shepherd who heals.
