**Proverbs 6:18** — *"a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil."*
Solomon lists this among seven things the LORD detests — and notice the sequence. The heart schemes *first*. The feet follow. Sin rarely arrives as an ambush; it arrives as a destination we have been walking toward, one private thought at a time.
This is why Scripture calls us to guard the heart above all else (Proverbs 4:23). The feet simply go where the heart has already decided to go.
The covenant life begins not at the threshold of action, but in the quiet room of our desires. What we dwell on, we eventually move toward.
Walk with me in this: Psalm 139:23–24 invites God to *search* us, to know our anxious thoughts, to reveal any wicked way forming beneath the surface — before the feet ever find their stride.
