**Isaiah 28:22** โ *"So now, do not mock, or your shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole land."*
Isaiah spoke these words to the rulers of Jerusalem who had laughed off God's warnings โ men who believed their political alliances with Egypt made them untouchable. Their mockery was not irreverence in the abstract. It was a posture of the soul that said: *I have secured myself without You.*
Shackles grow heavier not through sudden judgment alone, but through the slow calcification of a heart that refuses to yield. The covenant God does not punish capriciously โ He responds to the direction we are already walking.
Scripture reminds us that wisdom begins precisely where self-sufficiency ends.
There is mercy still available in the space between the warning and the decree โ and the Shepherd who issues the warning is the same One who holds the door open.
Walk with that truth today.
