**Psalms 78:33** — *"So He ended their days in futility, and their years in sudden terror."*

The wilderness generation had witnessed manna fall, waters split, and fire lead them by night — yet they tested God ten times over (Numbers 14:22). Not once. Ten times. And the consequence was not merely inconvenience. Their years collapsed into futility. The Hebrew carries the weight of vapor — *hebel* — breath that dissipates before it forms.
God's covenant mercy is boundless, but His patience with willful, repeated rebellion has a threshold. Hebrews 3:15 echoes it plainly: *"Do not harden your hearts."*
The sobering grace in this passage is that we are reading it — which means we still have days that have not yet been spent. Let us reflect on what we are building with them, and whether our walk honors the One who grants each breath.
