**Numbers 4:15** โ *"But they must not touch the holy objects, or they will die."*
The Kohathites carried the most sacred cargo in Israel โ the ark, the altar, the lampstand. And yet proximity to holiness was not the same as permission to handle it. Aaron's sons covered each object first. Only then could the Kohathites lift and walk.
There is a covenant order here that we often overlook in our eagerness to serve. Zeal without preparation, access without consecration โ these are not virtues. They are presumption dressed as devotion.
Scripture reminds us that God honors the steward who understands their role within the larger order of worship. The Kohathites did not fail by carrying. They would have failed by grasping.
Consider the sacred responsibilities you carry today โ and whether you have paused long enough to let the covering come first.
Walk with that unhurried reverence. It is, itself, an act of worship.
