**Romans 6:18** โ *"You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."*
Paul chose that word deliberately โ *slaves*. Not volunteers. Not part-time participants. Slaves.
In the ancient world, a slave's identity was inseparable from their master. Your household, your labor, your very name โ all of it belonged to someone else.
Paul borrows that total ownership and points it toward righteousness. The believer does not merely *prefer* holiness. By grace, we are *bound* to it โ reoriented at the root level of who we are.
This is not burden. This is liberation with direction.
Freedom without a master is just drift. The covenant gift of Romans 6:18 is that we are freed *into* something โ a life shaped by righteousness, held by Christ, walking in purpose the old self could never find.
Let us reflect on what it means to be fully owned by the One who fully redeemed us.
