**Ezekiel 22:1** โ€” *"Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,"*

Eight words. No fanfare. No trembling of the earth.

Just the Lord, arriving in the ordinary syntax of a sentence โ€” and a prophet already positioned to receive.

This is what accountability looks like before it becomes confrontation. God did not send a vision or a sign to Ezekiel first. He spoke *to* him โ€” which means Ezekiel had cultivated a posture of nearness, a life oriented toward hearing.

The covenant word *came to me* implies arrival, not invasion. The prophet was not ambushed by God's voice; he was *found* by it.

Consider the steward who tends the field faithfully, even in silence. When the owner finally speaks, the steward does not scramble โ€” he simply listens.

Walk close enough to God today that His word, when it comes, finds you already leaning in.
