**Matthew 27:57** โ *"When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who himself was a disciple of Jesus."*
Notice what this verse does not say. It does not say Joseph *had been* a disciple, or that he *became* one after the cross. He *was* โ present tense, at the darkest hour, when the cause appeared finished and the cost of association was at its highest.
Wealth often insulates. It creates distance, options, the luxury of neutrality. Joseph chose none of that. He walked toward the tomb when others walked away.
Discipleship is rarely proven in the bright moments of miracle and crowd. Scripture reminds us that covenant faithfulness is most visible precisely when it is most costly โ when Calvary is still fresh and the resurrection has not yet come.
Consider the quiet stewards in your own life who showed up at evening, not morning.
By grace, may we be counted among them.
