**Ezekiel 20:20** β *"Keep My Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us, so that you may know that I am the LORD your God."*
Notice what God is protecting here β not a schedule, but a *sign*. The Hebrew word *ot* (ΧΧΦΉΧͺ) carries the weight of covenant mark, the same word used for the rainbow and circumcision. Sabbath was never mere calendar management for Israel; it was identity carved into time itself.
When Israel abandoned the Sabbath, they did not simply lose a day of rest β they lost the recurring, embodied declaration: *this people belongs to this God.*
There is something worth sitting with in that. The rhythms we keep β or abandon β quietly testify to what we believe about who holds our days.
Scripture reminds us that holy time is not empty time. It is the space where the covenant breathes.
Walk with that this week, beloved.
