**1 Chronicles 21:1** โ€” *"Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel."*

Notice what the adversary targets: not David's weakness, but his strength. A census was an act of pride dressed as administration โ€” counting soldiers instead of trusting the covenant God who multiplied them.

Satan rarely attacks where we feel fragile. He incites where we feel capable. Where our gifts are sharpest, where our influence is greatest, where our confidence runs deepest โ€” that is precisely where the subtle incitement arrives, whispering that our wisdom is sufficient, our numbers are our security.

David was a shepherd who became a king. He forgot, for a moment, that he was still a steward โ€” not the source.

Scripture reminds us that what we count reveals what we trust. Proverbs 3:5 calls us to lean not on our own understanding. Romans 8:31 anchors our security in God alone.

Walk with open hands today, and let the Lord be your census.
