**Judges 3:7** โ€” *"So the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD; they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs."*

Notice what precedes the idolatry: forgetting.

They did not wake one morning and choose false gods. They drifted โ€” covenant memory fading, daily worship thinning, gratitude going quiet โ€” until something else filled the space. The Baals and Asherahs were not invaders. They were substitutes for a presence that had been neglected.

This is the pattern Scripture reminds us of repeatedly. Spiritual erosion rarely announces itself. It arrives in the silences we stop filling with God.

The steward who tends the inner life โ€” through the Word, through prayer, through gathered worship โ€” is not being religious. He is guarding memory. He is keeping the covenant alive in the ordinary hours.

Walk with that awareness today. What you remember shapes what you serve.
