**Psalm 27:12** โ€” *"Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence."*

David wrote this from a specific place โ€” not abstract fear, but the particular sting of having his character twisted by those who watched him closely and reported falsely. The Hebrew *yafiach* ("breathing out") suggests something relentless, almost involuntary โ€” as if slander had become their very breath.

What David does not do here is reach for retaliation. He brings the accusation directly to God as evidence in a covenant appeal. *You know the truth. You be the judge.*

This is the posture Scripture invites when false testimony surrounds you โ€” not silence born of defeat, nor fury born of pride, but the quiet confidence of one who has a Shepherd who sees what no witness can distort.

Let us reflect on what it means to dwell in that shelter rather than defend ourselves out of it.
