**2 Chronicles 3:5** โ€” *"He paneled the main room with cypress, which he overlaid with fine gold and decorated with palm trees and chains."*

Solomon didn't build the Temple quickly or carelessly. He layered cypress beneath gold โ€” structural wood beneath radiant beauty. The palm trees spoke of flourishing; the chains, of connection and continuity. Nothing was incidental. Every surface carried intention.

This is the posture of a faithful steward: not rushing past the ordinary materials to reach the glorious finish, but honoring the cypress before the gold arrives.

Paul echoes this in 1 Corinthians 3:12 โ€” builders choose their materials carefully, because the work will be tested. And Colossians 3:23 reminds us that whatever we do, we work as unto the Lord.

The rooms you are tending right now โ€” your household, your vocation, your covenant relationships โ€” deserve that same layered care.

Consider the cypress beneath your gold today.
