**Ezekiel 13:12** — *"Surely when the wall has fallen, you will not be asked, 'Where is the whitewash with which you covered it?'"*
The prophet Ezekiel watched false shepherds coat crumbling walls with whitewash — smooth, bright, convincing. The structure beneath was rubble. When the storm came, no one cared about the finish.
This is the covenant steward's quiet warning: God does not evaluate the appearance of our work. He evaluates its foundation.
We whitewash when we perform spiritual discipline for visibility, lead with polished words instead of honest character, or dress unrepented sin in the language of grace. The wall looks sound. Until it doesn't.
