**Psalms 136:19** โ€” *"Sihon king of the Amorites โ€” His loving devotion endures forever."*

Sihon was no minor obstacle. He was a conqueror who had already defeated Moab (Numbers 21:26), a king whose name carried dread across the region. Yet here he appears โ€” sandwiched inside a psalm of praise โ€” not as a monument to his own power, but as evidence of God's covenant faithfulness.

This is the pattern of *hesed*: God's steadfast mercy does not pause for powerful adversaries. It moves *through* them.

Israel sojourned through wilderness, faced fortified cities, and still the refrain held: *His loving devotion endures forever.* Not because the path was easy, but because the Shepherd of Israel does not abandon what He has promised โ€” not in Canaan, not in your present difficulty.

Scripture reminds us in Romans 8:38 that neither powers nor principalities can sever that covenant thread.

Let the name of Sihon remind you โ€” even the formidable becomes a footnote in God's faithfulness.
