Robusta, by contrast, edged modestly higher, so the spread between the two is widening.
Over in the livestock pits, live cattle futures gave back ground Thursday despite what should have been supportive news — cash trade came in strong, with southern markets printing two hundred fifty six to two hundred fifty eight and northern trade reaching two hundred sixty. Futures still closed down as much as nearly four dollars on the session, suggesting the market had already priced in the cash strength and traders used the rally to sell.
