**Job 17:4** โ *"You have closed their minds to understanding; therefore You will not exalt them."*
Job speaks this of his accusers โ men who arrived with theology but without mercy, certainty but without sight. God had withheld understanding from them, not as cruelty, but as consequence. They could not see Job's suffering because they had already decided what it meant.
This is the quiet danger of a closed mind dressed in religious confidence. Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar โ their words sounded like wisdom. They quoted covenant law. They cited divine justice. And yet God rebuked them at the end, not Job.
Scripture reminds us that understanding is a gift entrusted to the humble. Proverbs 3:7 warns, *"Do not be wise in your own eyes."* And Isaiah 55:9 declares His ways higher than ours.
Walk with open hands before God โ there is always more He is willing to show the willing heart.
