**Isaiah 44:4** — *"They will sprout among the grass like willows by flowing streams."*
This is God's promise of covenant renewal — and notice what He does *not* say. He does not promise growth in ideal conditions. Willows do not wait for perfect soil or cloudless skies. They root themselves where the water moves, and they flourish precisely because they stay close to the source.
The context here is Israel's restoration after exile. A scattered people, dry and displaced — yet God speaks of them sprouting, multiplying, rising again. Not by their own strength, but by proximity to His living water.
Ezekiel 47:12 echoes this image: trees bearing fruit beside the river of God, their leaves never withering.
The steward who abides near the streams of Scripture and prayer does not merely survive the dry seasons — they become shade for others walking through them.
