**Genesis 23:19** โ€” *"After this, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field at Machpelah near Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan."*

Abraham held no deed to this land โ€” yet here he purchases a burial plot, not a home. His first permanent possession in Canaan is a tomb.

Consider the weight of that. God had promised him the entire land. Abraham sojourned decades without owning a single acre. And when the covenant finally touches soil, it is through grief, not triumph.

This is how God often works โ€” not through the doors we expect, but through the ones that cost us something. The field at Machpelah was bought with tears and silver. Yet it became the resting place of the patriarchs, a testimony to covenant faithfulness across generations.

Scripture reminds us that what we steward through sorrow, God often consecrates as sacred ground.

Walk with that today.
