**Mark 4:21** — *"Does anyone bring in a lamp to put it under a basket or under a bed? Doesn't he set it on a stand?"*
A lamp hidden beneath a basket still burns — but it illuminates nothing. Jesus spoke these words immediately after explaining the parable of the sower, which means this isn't abstract poetry. He's addressing disciples who received the Word and were tempted to keep it close, quiet, contained.
The lamp was never yours to hoard. Light, by its very nature, is covenantal — given to be shared, placed where it can serve the household.
