**Isaiah 54:16** โ€” *"Behold, I have created the craftsman who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its task; and I have created the destroyer to wreak havoc."*

The forge and the destroyer. Both made by the same hand.

This is not a verse that softens easily. Isaiah writes to exiles who have watched their city burn โ€” and God says: the one who lit that fire? I made him too.

This is sovereign mercy at its most unnerving. Not because God authors evil, but because no weapon, no adversary, no season of ruin falls outside His governance. The craftsman shapes. The destroyer reveals. And neither moves without the Lord's sovereign hand upon them.

For the beloved walking through what feels like wreckage โ€” Scripture reminds us that even the flame has a Maker, and even the forging has a purpose.

Let us dwell on what it means to trust a God whose sovereignty leaves nothing unclaimed.
