**Proverbs 22:13** โ€” *"The slacker says, 'There is a lion outside! I will be slain in the streets!'"*

The excuse sounds dramatic. It is meant to. The slacker in this proverb doesn't say "I don't feel like it" โ€” he constructs a *threat*, something fearsome enough to justify inaction. This is the architecture of avoidance: dress the reluctance in danger's clothing.

Scripture reminds us that fear can be a faithful servant or a cunning deceiver. The same mouth that warns of lions can manufacture them. Wise stewardship of the life God has entrusted to you requires honest discernment โ€” is this a genuine obstacle, or a story you're telling yourself to stay comfortable?

Caleb at eighty-five still asked for the mountain (Joshua 14:12). The servants who multiplied their talents did not wait for perfect conditions (Matthew 25:16โ€“17).

The lion is rarely in the street. Walk with that truth today.
