**Joshua 2:14** โ€” *"Our lives for your lives!" the men agreed. "If you do not report our mission, we will show you kindness and faithfulness when the LORD gives us the land."*

Two spies. A scarlet cord. A covenant sealed in whispered urgency on a Jericho rooftop.

What strikes me here is the weight of *hesed* โ€” that covenant-bound kindness โ€” extended to a woman the world had already written off. Rahab was not Israel. She had no claim. Yet the spies bound themselves to her with language that echoes God's own promises: *kindness and faithfulness.*

This is how covenant mercy moves. It crosses walls. It finds the unlikely. It speaks life before the victory is even won.

Rahab's scarlet cord was hanging in the window before Jericho ever fell โ€” faith made visible, mercy already in motion.

Let us reflect on who in your life may be waiting, cord in hand, for someone to make good on a word of grace.
