**2 Kings 8:26** โ€” *"Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri king of Israel."*

One verse. One year. One lineage that would prove fatal.

Ahaziah did not simply inherit a throne โ€” he inherited a covenant with compromise. Athaliah carried Omri's corruption like a root system beneath the soil, and it bore its fruit in her son's brief, broken reign. Scripture reminds us that bloodlines carry more than names; they carry patterns, allegiances, and unexamined loyalties.

This is not a word of condemnation โ€” it is a word of stewardship. What we receive from those before us shapes us more than we often care to admit. The mercy of God, however, is that no inherited pattern is beyond His reach.

Walk with honesty today about what you have been handed โ€” and what, by grace, you still have the power to lay down.
