**Joshua 19:50** โ *"As the LORD had commanded. They gave him the city of Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim, as he requested. He rebuilt the city and settled in it."*
After decades of war, surveying, and distributing land to eleven tribes, Joshua finally received his own portion โ and it was a ruin. He asked for it specifically. He rebuilt it with his own hands and dwelt there.
There is something quietly profound in that. The man who led Israel into its inheritance did not claim a finished city. He chose a place that required work, and he abode in what he had built.
This is the posture of a true steward: not waiting for comfort to appear, but receiving what God appoints โ even in its broken state โ and being faithful to restore it. The covenant land was not handed to Joshua polished. He labored in it.
Let us reflect on what God has placed in our hands, unfinished as it may be.
