**1 Chronicles 1:49** โ€” *"When Shaul died, Baal-hanan son of Achbor reigned in his place."*

Eight kings. Eight transitions. The genealogical roll of Edom in 1 Chronicles reads like a ledger of impermanence โ€” no dynasty, no son inheriting his father's throne, each reign ending and another beginning in its place.

Scripture reminds us that human power is a steward's lease, not a permanent deed. Edom's kings rose, ruled, and were replaced. Their names are preserved not as monuments to their greatness, but as witnesses to a deeper covenant truth: only one throne endures.

Consider the contrast โ€” while Edom cycles through rulers, Israel is being shaped toward a King whose reign will know no succession. The Son of David will not be replaced. *"Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end"* (Isaiah 9:7).

Walk with that assurance today โ€” whatever shifts around you, the throne above it is settled.
