Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab has inked a multi-billion-dollar deal with Google Cloud, giving the startup access to Nvidia's latest GB three hundred chips. On the environmental front, a Wired investigation found that new natural gas-powered data centers tied to OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, and xAI could collectively emit more than one hundred twenty nine million tons of greenhouse gases annually. GitHub says the data helps improve the product, but the open-source community is pushing back, arguing that opt-in should always be the standard when it comes to tracking user behavior, even when the data is anonymized.
