**Mark 10:18** โ€” *"Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone."*

A wealthy young man ran to Jesus with flattery on his lips โ€” and Jesus stopped him cold. Not to deflect praise, but to press deeper: *Do you know what you're saying? Do you know who stands before you?*

This is not false modesty from the Lord. It is a theological hinge. Goodness, in its fullness, is not a human achievement or a moral grade โ€” it is the very nature of God. Immutable. Uncreated. The standard by which all else is measured.

We often speak of "good people" as though goodness were distributed democratically. Scripture reminds us it flows from one Source alone, and anything genuinely good in us is borrowed light โ€” covenant mercy reflected, not generated.

Walk with that humility today. Let the goodness you carry point back to its Shepherd.
