The hype cycle around AI agents may be cooling faster than it heated up. A new piece making the rounds argues that AI agents have been briefly but significantly overhyped, suggesting the gap between what they promise and what they reliably deliver is still wide enough to matter for anyone betting their business on them.
Meanwhile, Y Combinator president Gary Tan has released something called GStack, an open-source framework designed to help startup founders build with Claude Code more efficiently. It's an interesting signal of how AI coding tools are becoming infrastructure rather than novelty, with prominent figures in the startup world now publishing their own opinionated workflows around them.
And perhaps the most human story of the day comes out of Tennessee, where a family holding a Revolutionary War era farm managed to stop the Tennessee Valley Authority from running a high-voltage power line through their land. Armed with social media, petitions, and a little help from country star John Rich, one farmer held the line against a utility giant scrambling to feed the surging electricity demand driven by AI data centers from Google and others. It's a reminder that the infrastructure powering our digital future has to go somewhere, and not everyone is willing to make way.
