**Matthew 17:1** โ€” *"After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves."*

Six days prior, Jesus had spoken plainly about suffering, death, and the cost of following Him. The disciples were still absorbing the weight of those words โ€” and then He led them *up*.

This is the pattern of the Shepherd: He does not leave us alone with hard truth. He walks with us into the next revelation.

The mountain was not an escape from the difficulty below. It was preparation for it. Peter, James, and John would descend to a suffering boy, a desperate father, and disciples who had failed (Matthew 17:14โ€“16). The glory they witnessed above equipped them for the struggle below.

Scripture reminds us that moments of sacred encounter are not trophies โ€” they are provisions.

Consider the last time you were led apart โ€” and what you were being prepared to carry back down.
