**Genesis 14:24** β€” *"I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share for the men who went with meβ€”Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. They may take their portion."*

Abram had just routed four kings and recovered everything. The King of Sodom stood before him, offering wealth. And Abram said: no.

This is not false humility. This is a man who had already settled, in his soul, whose provision he trusted. He refused the king's gold because he would not let a pagan ruler claim credit for blessing him. His covenant God would be his source β€” or nothing would.

Notice too his integrity toward others: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre were free to take what was theirs. Abram's conviction did not become a law he imposed on those around him.

The steward who walks in covenant holds two things at once β€” personal conviction and generous grace toward others.

Let us reflect on what we refuse, and why.
