**Daniel 8:5** โ *"As I was contemplating all this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came out of the west, crossing the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground."*
Daniel receives this vision during Belshazzar's reign โ and the image is deliberately unsettling. A goat moving with such velocity it barely grazes the earth. History would later confirm: this is Alexander the Great, whose Macedonian conquest swept Persia in less than three years with breathtaking speed.
Yet here is what arrests me as a steward of this text โ God narrated Alexander's empire *before* Alexander knew he would have one. The goat does not touch the ground, yet God's sovereign hand is beneath every footfall.
Empires rise at breathtaking speed. So does pride. So does our certainty that we are the prominent horn.
Scripture reminds us that every swift conquest exists within a story authored long before we arrived.
Walk with that humility today.
