**Psalms 135:1** โ *"Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD. Give praise, O servants of the LORD."*
Notice the structure here. The Psalmist does not say *praise the works* of the LORD, or *praise the gifts* of the LORD โ but the **name**. In Hebrew culture, a name carried the full weight of character and covenant identity. To praise the name of Yahweh was to declare *who He is*, not merely *what He has done*.
This distinction reshapes worship. Gratitude can become transactional โ we praise when circumstances are favorable. But the servant who dwells on the *name* praises through drought and abundance alike, because the character of God does not shift with the seasons.
Servants of the LORD โ not observers, not occasional visitors โ *servants*. Those whose lives are oriented around the One they praise.
Consider the difference between thanking God for what He gives and honoring God for who He is. That is where worship deepens into covenant.
