**Leviticus 10:2** โ€” *"So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died in the presence of the LORD."*

Nadab and Abihu were Aaron's sons โ€” consecrated priests, clothed in holy garments, standing at the very threshold of covenant worship. And yet they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, and it cost them everything.

This is not a passage we soften easily. But consider the weight it carries: proximity to God is not the same as alignment with God. These men stood *near* the holy and still walked outside His instruction. Familiarity became presumption.

The steward who draws close to God must draw close on His terms โ€” shaped by His word, ordered by His will, not by what feels fitting in the moment.

Scripture reminds us that reverence is not fear without love. It is love with weight โ€” the kind that handles holy things carefully.

Let us walk near the flame with trembling gratitude.
