**Nehemiah 7:21** โ€” *"the descendants of Ater (through Hezekiah), 98."*

Ninety-eight souls. No heroic deed attached. No prophecy fulfilled. Just a name, a lineage, and a number recorded in the covenant community's register.

Nehemiah's list is not filler. It is theology. God does not shepherd crowds โ€” He shepherds persons. Each family counted here had returned from Babylonian exile, rebuilt their lives from rubble, and taken their place among God's people. The census was covenant faithfulness made visible.

Scripture reminds us that to be *named* before God is to be *held* by God. The descendants of Ater were not footnotes โ€” they were stewards of a promise larger than themselves, called to dwell in a city still learning to trust its walls.

Consider the quiet dignity of being known without being famous โ€” of bearing a faithful name in an ordinary line, and finding that enough.

Walk with that today.
