**Proverbs 30:12** โ€” *"There is a generation of those who are pure in their own eyes and yet unwashed of their filth."*

Agur's words cut with surgical precision. He isn't describing obvious sinners โ€” he's describing those who have mistaken the *absence of conviction* for the *presence of holiness*. A mirror that shows you only what you wish to see is no mirror at all.

This is the quiet danger of self-referential faith: when Scripture no longer measures us, we begin measuring ourselves โ€” and we always pass.

David understood the remedy. In Psalm 139:23โ€“24, he invited God's searching gaze rather than trusting his own: *"Search me, God, and know my heart."* That posture โ€” open, yielded, honest โ€” is the beginning of true cleansing.

Walk with the Word as your mirror, not your mirror as your word.

Let us reflect on where we have confused comfort with purity, and silence with innocence.
