**Luke 11:46** โ€” *"Woe to you as well, experts in the law! For you weigh men down with heavy burdens, but you yourselves will not lift a finger to lighten their load."*

The Pharisees had mastered the art of addition โ€” layer upon layer of religious obligation โ€” while standing at a comfortable distance from the weight they imposed. Jesus didn't rebuke their knowledge. He rebuked their absence.

This is the shepherd's test: do you dwell among the burdened, or merely catalogue their failings from afar?

Scripture reminds us that Christ, our Great Shepherd, did not hand down a list from heaven. He stepped into dust, touched lepers, and carried the cross. His yoke is easy precisely because He bears it *with* us โ€” Matthew 11:30 makes this covenant clear.

Consider the difference between a leader who assigns and one who accompanies.

Let us reflect on whether the weight we ask others to carry is one we are willing to lift alongside them.
