**Exodus 5:21** โ€” *"May the LORD look upon you and judge you," the foremen said, "for you have made us a stench before Pharaoh and his officials; you have placed in their hand a sword to kill us!"*

Moses had obeyed God precisely โ€” and the people cursed him for it.

This is the part of the calling story we rarely frame and hang on the wall. Obedience did not open a door; it collapsed a ceiling onto the people Moses loved. The foremen were not wrong about the pain. They were wrong about the cause.

When faithfulness to God produces friction rather than favor, the temptation is to conclude we misheard. Moses had not misheard. The pressure was *part of the passage* โ€” not evidence of a wrong turn.

Scripture reminds us that the covenant path is not always the comfortable one. Sometimes it is the one where those you shepherd turn and accuse.

Walk with that tension long enough to let it teach you.
