**Proverbs 21:26** β *"All day long he covets more, but the righteous give without restraint."*
The contrast here is not subtle. One man fills his hours grasping. The other empties his hands freely β and keeps giving.
Solomon is not describing two economic classes. He is describing two orientations of the soul. Covetousness is a posture, a constant lean toward accumulation. Righteousness, by contrast, is an open hand β not because the giver has surplus, but because the giver trusts the Shepherd who restores and replenishes (Psalm 23:1).
Paul echoes this in 2 Corinthians 9:7 β *"God loves a cheerful giver"* β but the word cheerful there is *hilarΓ³s* in Greek: radiant, even hilarious in its freedom. The righteous give without restraint because they are not imprisoned by what they might lose.
Consider the posture of your own hands today β clenched or open.
