**Ezekiel 22:16** — *"And when you have defiled yourself in the eyes of the nations, then you will know that I am the LORD."*
There is a particular grief in this verse — God does not prevent the defilement. He permits Jerusalem to be exposed, scattered, shamed before the nations she once sought to impress.
