**1 Kings 13:5** β *"And the altar was split apart, and the ashes poured out, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the LORD."*
Stone does not yield to stone. Yet here, at Bethel, an altar built by royal decreeβconsecrated to false worshipβfractures at the spoken word of an unnamed prophet. No sword. No army. Only the covenant word, delivered with precision and fulfilled before the king's own eyes.
This is the pattern of divine authority: God does not negotiate with the structures we erect in His place. He simply speaks, and what was built in defiance becomes ash.
The man of God carried no credentials Jeroboam would recognize. He carried only the word entrusted to him.
Walk with that truth today β that the word you steward is not yours to soften, redirect, or delay. It belongs to the One who splits altars.
Let us reflect on what we have been given to carry, and whether we are carrying it faithfully.
