**Acts 1:25** โ€” *"to take up this ministry and apostleship, which Judas abandoned to go to his rightful place."*

Luke's phrasing here is striking. He does not say Judas was cast out โ€” he says Judas *went* to his rightful place. The apostleship was never truly his; he departed from it long before the betrayal was complete.

Stewardship works this way. The role does not belong to us โ€” it belongs to the One who assigns it. Judas abandoned the covenant of calling, and the place he vacated was filled by Matthias, a man who had walked with Christ from the beginning and simply waited in faithfulness.

Scripture reminds us that our ministry is received, not earned โ€” and it can be surrendered, not only by scandal, but by slow neglect, by divided loyalty, by the quiet drift away from the Shepherd's voice.

Consider the calling you carry today, and whether you are drawing nearer to it โ€” or stepping away.
