**Jeremiah 49:36** โ€” *"I will bring the four winds against Elam from the four corners of the heavens, and I will scatter them to all these winds. There will not be a nation to which Elam's exiles will not go."*

Edom feared the sword. Elam faced something far more disorienting โ€” total dispersal. No single enemy. No identifiable front line. Only wind, and distance, and the slow grief of a people unmoored from everything familiar.

Yet even here, God is not absent from the sentence. He is the one speaking it. The scattering is not chaos โ€” it is covenant sovereignty wearing a severe face.

Scripture reminds us that exile, even when it feels like abandonment, remains within the shepherd's sight. The God who scattered Israel also gathered them. The God who names Elam's judgment names every sojourner by grace.

Walk with that truth today โ€” that the winds which displace us never outrun the One who commands them.
