**Deuteronomy 22:7** โ€” *"You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days."*

A small law about birds. A mother on a nest. And God pausing to say: *do not take everything.*

This is not merely wildlife conservation tucked into Torah. It is a covenant principle woven into the fabric of how Israel was to walk through the created world โ€” with restraint, with mercy, with eyes that see the source, not only the harvest.

The mother represents continuity. Take her, and you end the line. Leave her, and grace compounds.

Scripture reminds us that stewardship has always required this discipline โ€” knowing what to receive and what to protect for the sake of what comes next.

God builds longevity into mercy. The blessing is not in taking all you can. It is in leaving something sacred untouched.

Let us reflect on what we may be consuming that was meant to endure.
